By Car

Signs marked "Messe" along the main roadways within the greater Hannover region indicate the direction of the fairgrounds. Traffic is managed electronically by a centralized routing system that controls:

  • Bundesautobahn (BAB) 2 and BAB 7 (also referred to as A2 and A7) traffic control systems
  • Additional lane guides at Autobahn intersections
  • The fairgrounds expressway (Messeschnellweg)
  • The fairgounds parking guidance system
Road signs and signals display information based on electronically calculated traffic flows that help identify delays and re-route traffic to the most efficient alternate roadways. Maps of the main roadways to the fairgrounds and the parking lots at the fairgrounds are available as PDF downloads in the right-hand column of this page.

Using a Navigation System?

If your vehicle is equipped with a navigation system, enter the Hannover destination "Hermesallee", which is the name of the street that runs parallel to the northern perimeter of the fairgrounds.

Hannover Emission Zone

On 1 January 2008, Hannover joined Berlin and Cologne in an effort to reduce health risks associated with motor vehicle exhaust in their respective city centers. Subsequently, Hannover established an official Emission Zone (indicated by signs reading "Umwelt-Zone") roughly defined by the expressways (Schnellwege) that encircle the city center. Only vehicles that meet the requirements are permitted to enter the Emission Zone. To demonstrate compliance, an official permit (disc-shaped sticker) must be displayed on every vehicle's windshield.
